March 2, 2011, Richmond native Matthew Kraemer, son of Mike and Melanie Kramer of Richmond, is conducting the Symphony in Indianapolis and vocalist Idina Menzel who performs songs from her Broadway roles along with pop and theatre classics.

A Broadway star, Idina Menzel has stretched her talents into film and television in recent years.  She originated the roles in Rent and Wicked on Broadway, appeared in the film Enchanted, and has a recurring role on television’s Glee.

Matthew was trained as a violinist as a child in Richmond and later played with the Richmond Symphony Orchestra. He studied at the  University of Nevada, Reno, receiving a Master of Music in Orchestral Career Studies.  Matthew currently enters his second season as associate conductor of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra in New York.

Note: Full disclosure and bit of bragging– Matthew Kraemer is our cousin and we are very proud of him and the music he has been able to make in our family and around the States.
