THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN WILMINGTON HAS ISSUED AN EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING… WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 PM EDT THURSDAY. THE HEAT ADVISORY IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT. THE EXCESSIVE HEAT WATCH IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.

* HEAT INDEX VALUES… UP TO 112.

* TIMING… HEAT INDICES OF 105 TO 110 DEGREES ARE EXPECTED THISAFTERNOON AND EVENING. HEAT INDICES OF 105 TO 112 DEGREES WILL BE POSSIBLE ON THURSDAY.

* IMPACTS… HEAT STROKE, HEAT EXHAUSTION AND OTHER HEAT RELATED ILLNESSES WILL BE POSSIBLE… ESPECIALLY IF YOU SPEND A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF TIME OUTDOORS… OR ARE INVOLVED IN ANY STRENUOUS OUTDOOR ACTIVITY.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

TAKE EXTRA PRECAUTIONS IF YOU WORK OR SPEND TIME OUTSIDE. WHEN POSSIBLE… RESCHEDULE STRENUOUS ACTIVITIES TO EARLY MORNING OR EVENING. KNOW THE SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF HEAT EXHAUSTION AND HEAT STROKE. WEAR LIGHT WEIGHT AND LOOSE FITTING CLOTHING WHEN POSSIBLE AND DRINK PLENTY OF WATER.
