Best Tasting Best Stand Contests & Lemonade Day!

011This weekend you will have the opportunity to support young creative entrepreneurs in Wayne County.  Yellow will be everywhere!

Starting Saturday, May 16, kids will be participating in the Best Tasting/Best Stand contests where their stand and/or lemonade will be judged by celebrity judges including Mayor Sally Hutton, in the Depot under the overpass.  Kids will set up at 10:00 a.m. and judging starts at 11:15.  After the winners are announced and tropies are given on stage, many kids will stay during the Taste of Italy so that you can sample their lemonade and other treats they are making.

Sunday, May 17, is Lemonade Day all over Wayne County!

What a great day to go for a ride around Wayne County and discover all the talent our youth in the area have developed.  Kids have gone through training for this day in their schools and through the Lemonade Day workshop and mentoring programs.  They have learned about setting goals, making plans, setting a budget, working their plan and good customer service–among many other great business principles.  They are ready to serve you!

Make a kids day on Sunday by encouraging them in their business efforts.  Who knows, you may be the one person who makes them realize they have what it takes to own their own business and become successful!

Today Lemonade….Tomorrow the World!!

Best Tasting & Best Stand Contests This Saturday: During Taste of Italy

Best Tasting & Best Stand Contests

391This Saturday, May 10, 2014,  young entrepreneurs will set up “shop” in the Depot District during Taste of Italy.

Not only can you support their efforts by purchasing their lemonade and admiring their stands, you will be helping them to understand the rewards of owning their own business.  The kids, and their families, have spent hours mixing up special lemonade recipes, designing and building their stands, as well as working on their budget and other aspects of business ownership.

Support Local Non-profits

Many of the children donate a portion of their earnings to local non-profits like Relay for Life, HELP animal shelter, Boys and Girls Club, and many others.  So by supporting them, you are supporting non-profits in our community.

396To enter the Best Tasting & Best Stand contests, you must be registered for Lemonade Day.  (registrations will be available that day if you haven’t signed up yet, or sign up at your child’s school, First Bank Richmond branches, or local libraries).  All contestants will be entered into a drawing for a Kindle Fire HD & a Veach’s gift card.  1st & 2nd places in both categories will receive a trophy.  Set up begins at 10:00 a.m. and judging will begin at 11:15 a.m. (Celebrity judges will vote for their favorite lemonade and stand).

Contestants are encouraged to stay and sell lemonade as long as they are able, while they enjoy the Taste of Italy.

“Spark A Dream” Workshop for Lemonade Day & Upcoming Events
