Open until 6:00 p.m. today at the Kuhlman Center- make sure you get out there and support a worthy cause- Genesis shelter for battered women and their children.

Tis The Season
I don’t know about you, but church bazaars seem like the real ushering in of the holiday season for me.
Growing up we were involved with preparations for our own family church bazaar at the 2nd Presbyterian Church, which used to be on North 19th Street. Our Grandma Kendall was a Sunday School teacher and so we were all delegated to pitch in.
As we got older and could help more it was a lot more meaningful. We worked at craft tables, the cake walk, “reaching for the stars” and fishing for prizes. We even had an old “white elephant” table. I loved working the fishing area and selecting just the right toy for the child standing behind the curtain.
So when I see signs for church craft shows and bazaars I just want to tell everyone about it- assuming you all feel the way I do, and I hope many of you do.
to support a local church and pick up some wonderful homemade foods and crafts. The Central United Methodist Church on Main Street in Richmond, will be holding their bi-annual craft fair from 9:30 to 2:00 p.m. with a preview night on Friday from 7-8 p.m. There is no cost for admission. According to a representative of the church, they will offer a cafe, handmade crafts which will include Fall, Thanksgiving and Christmas decorations, and baked goods. Proceeds will go to support the United Methodist Womens Mission locally and globally.
Another chance for an old fashioned church bazaar is at the Central Christian Church on National Road West, going towards Centerville IN, on your left. This annual craft show will be open from the hours of 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and there is no cost for admission. Homemade foods and baked goods will be available to purchase as well as holiday decorations, crafts and other vendors (last year there were childrens’ books for sale and Tupperware as well).
So this weekend- have a great time at the church bazaars, while you shop local and find some really unique gift items. And don’t forget to get a treat for yourself! (that is the best part)
