travis sims magicianTomorrow at 4th Floor Blues as part of the InConcert series magician Travis Sims of “Extreme Entertainment” will entertain both children and adults.  For children there are two shows at 3:30 and 5:30.  Tickets are 5.00 for the kids shows.  And then for the adults you can get tickets for shows following in the evening.  Doors open at 8:30 p.m. and tickets for the adult show are 15.00.  A local magician will perform prior to Drew’s appearance.  Food will be available for the kids shows and an open bar for the adults later at the evening show.  Contact Maria Mitrione’s for more information.  Proceeds benefit 11 non-profits in Wayne County.

On Saturday, at the Centerville Public Library, you can make someone very happy by taking them to see a program that is centered around one of the favorite American Girl Dolls and her life.  This event is from 2-4 p.m. and free to the public.

Friday, March 9, 2012, from 7:00 pm until 9:30 pm you can enjoy an evening of jazz with Moment’s Notice and special guest artist, Grant Koeller– well known saxophonist from Dayton Ohio.

Common Grounds Coffee House is located at: 609 West Main Street, Richmond, Indiana.  The coffee house offers live music and refreshments and is free and open to the public.   Donations are accepted.

“Willy Minnix is going to be our entertainer this Friday evening! Willy is one of the best mandolin artists in the area. This is his first visit to our coffeehouse, and I’m really looking forward to hearing him! You can get a sneak preview by visiting his web site, http://willyminnix.blogspot.com/. (My favorites are “Frog Catchers” and “Slide Right By”.) ”

Common Grounds Coffee House is located at West Richmond Friends Meeting, off SW 7th and West Main Street, and opens at 7:00 pm.  Entertainment and snacks are free including coffee and teas–donations are welcome.  Once a month at Common Grounds they also feature “Contra Dance” with a live band and caller.  Beginners are welcome and encouraged.  (There is a 5.00 charge for Contra Dance to cover the band).

This Friday night at 7:00 p.m. Four Shillings Short will be playing at the Common Grounds Coffee House located at West Richmond Friends off of West Main and 7th Street.

Aodh Óg Ó Tuama and Christy Martin, also known as Four Shillings Short, will be presenting A Celtic Celebration of Winter: Music, poetry & stories from the Celtic lands. Aodh and Christy live on the road year-round in their van, and they bring dozens of wonderful instruments.

Admission is FREE.  Refreshments are available, donations are welcome.

Comedy Comes To Wayne County… with More Weekends Added!  Mar 19th, Mar 26th, and April 9th, and there are two shows on each Saturday at 6:30 & 9:00 (new times). The show is still FREE with a 2 drink minimum.  The fun is not over yet.  Since the first two weekends of comedy shows were such a success, the company has added three more dates with a total of six more chances to have a much needed laugh. All you have to do is call the reservation hotline at 765-588-4604.  The feedback on this has been very positive and this weekend’s shows include some well known personalities. (see poster).

Brian Rogers sings throughout the area, and he is currently rehearsing for the role of Sancho Panza in the Richmond Civic Theater production of Man of La Mancha.

Joshua Brown has been collecting folk songs and building his own instruments for the last 40 years. He sings frequently at local churches, civic groups, schools and senior centers.

Brian has performed at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville TN and other venues such as the Minnetrista Cultual Center and the Metamora Music Festival.  He has released 15 CD’s.

Friday, January 11, 8-10 p.m in the Dining Hall in the Runyan Center.  Earlham’s Big Band Jazz Ensemble and the Salsa Band share the stage for a great night of dance music.  Bring your dancing shoes!  Proceeds benefit the United Way of Richmond.  Tickets: $5.00/adults & $3.00/ students and seniors.
