Rhythm Of The Dance

 This two-hour dance and music extravaganza contains a wealth of talent derived from all areas of Irish life, including three tenorsand a full cast of dancers. The show is an inspiring epic, reliving the journey of the Irish Celts throughout history. Using the traditional and modern arts of dance (ballet, modern dance, jazz) and music,
this richly costumed show marries the contemporary and the ancient. Combining traditional Irish dance and music with the most up to date stage execution, the show is a thousand year old story presented as a modern day stage show. Don’t miss this wonderful evening of song and dance at Civic Hall on St. Patrick’s Day!

Civic Hall Performing Arts Announces The Upcoming Season

Friday, April 1 at 7:00 p.m., Common Grounds Coffeehouse welcomes back Four Shillings Short, a Celtic music group featuring husband and wife singers Aodh Óg Ó Tuama and Christy Martin. They are back here for their third visit to Richmond, on a tour that stretches from California to Maine and from Florida to Minnesota.  Cost is 5.00.  Refreshments will be available.

Wildflower Hike Saturday, April 2, 2011 from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m. Many flowers are starting to pop out!!!  And this will be a beautiful weekend to be out in nature on the trails and by the ponds where the frogs are ringing in spring with their wonderful chirps.  Members participate for free – non-members only $3. Call to register 855-3188.  The Cope Environmental Center is located off of Airport Road, which is on your left off of 40 as you are heading into the town of Centerville.

Now that Spring is here, Townsend Community Center invites you to help kick off the garden season by joining us for a Planting Party & Lunch from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.  There will be planting and building of raised beds.  Join us for lunch form 12-1:00 p.m.  In case of rain it will be rescheduled for Saturday April 9, 10-1.  Call Mona Mayberry at 965-5800 if you need transportation.  This event is part of the celebration of Minority Health Month.

Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana At Civic Hall Performing Arts

Saturday, 7:30 – 9:30 pm.  The Earlham Concert Choir, Earlham Women’s Chorus, Richmond Community Chorus and Earlham Symphony Orchestra, with guest musicians from the Richmond Symphony Orchestra come together to perform Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana, a scenic cantata based on twenty-four poems. It is one of the most thrilling and popular of all choral works, with an emphasis on infectious rhythm, folk-based harmonies and a text that celebrates the joy of living. Beginning at 7:30 p.m., the concert will open with a work by the orchestra alone. April 3, 2011,  7:00 pm,  Goddard Auditorium, Carpenter Hall.  A family-friendly evening of Centerville High School and Earlham Percussion, DRUMaddix is an annual outreach event combining the talent of several local percussion ensembles with the addition of a special guest artist/group. Included in this concert are special guests Pavel Polanco-Safadit and his latin jazz trio Direct Contact.

Richmond Area Career Center Open House

Friday, January 21, 2011, 6:30pm – 7:45pm

There will be an open house of the Richmond Area Career Center Friday, January 21st, from 6:30 PM -7:45 PM before the RHS – Logansport High School boy’s basketball game.

All community members are welcome. They will receive a FREE TICKET to the game once they complete the tour, and the first 200 people to enter will receive hot dog, chips, and a drink.  (Donations from the RHS Athletic department and the Richmond Food Service department made this possible.)

Richmond High Varsity Home Game

Friday, January 21, 8:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.

The RHS Varsity team will take on Logansport at home.  (Tune into 101.3, channel 20, or Kicks 96 to check for cancellations).

E Street Pub Live Bands Night

Saturday, January 22, starting at 8:00 p.m.

815 North E Street. Come out and warm up at E. Street Pub this Saturday.  They will be hosting their weekly event: Live music by local bands.

The Richmond High School Choral Department will be hosting the Indiana University ‘Singing Hoosiers’ on Sunday, January 23, 2011 with a 1:00pm luncheon followed by a 4:00pm performance in Civic Hall. The RHS Choral department will start the 4:00pm performance followed by the Singing Hoosiers.

Both groups will perform “The Battle Hymn of the Republic” for the grand finale.  Reserved seat tickets for the concert are $10 for adults and $5 for students.  Luncheon tickets are also available for $10 each and will be hosted in the Richmond High School cafeteria at 1:00pm. An IU Alumni block seating ticket sale is now taking place through January 10, 2011. IU Alumni can order luncheon and reserve concert tickets by calling the Civic Hall box office. The last date to buy a luncheon ticket will be January 10, 2011. General sale concert tickets will be available in the box office starting on January 3, 2011.
