Richmond Indiana really tries to bring the live music. Doc Handy’s was leading the charge for awhile. Here’s another Mental Afro song, “Kiss my Jazz.”
It’s called E Street Bar now, but we had some good times at Doc Handys! I was there and these guys were awesome!
The bands are smaller than I remember. (I’m from the 200+ traditional band days) But they’re still gathering in Indianapolis every year! Centerville High School marching band’s show from 2008 was a hit!
Picture around 1200 Model T Fords rolling around your town for a couple of weeks. Having a hard time? Think you’d have to build a time machine? Not if you were the home of the biggest gathering of Model T’s in the world in Hagerstown and Richmond Indiana!
Great video showing Richmond, Indiana of old and new.
It is amazing to see the changes in the buildings over the years. Old photos of Richmond are fun to see just how much, and sometimes how little, has changed through wars, Presidents, economic growth and decline, and what we call progress. (even though in hindsight “progress” isn’t always really a good thing)
Looks like a lot of buildings that were magnificent architectural creations when they were built, still stand out today among the more drab and modern buildings in the area.
